How it started…
Majella wrote her first poem in September 2013 after signing up to Susan Millar DuMars' creative writing class at the Galway Technical Institute where she fell hopelessly in love with writing. She went on to do some poetry courses with Susan’s husband, Kevin Higgins, and considers them both to have been fundamental to the happy accident of her becoming an actual poet.
Before taking up writing she was a photographer and before that, a teacher. You can still find her photography on Facebook under Fotissima.
How it’s going…
You'll still find her, most days, teaching French, English & Italian, at a secondary school for boys in Co. Mayo, Ireland.
She has to keep the day job since she is unlikely to make her first million selling poems and somebody has to put her young fella through college.
However, she is going to carry on writing regardless, because she cannot imagine life without it.
